LOOKING FOR A CAREER IN TEACHING?
At North Halifax Grammar School, we believe strongly in the value of welcoming trainee teachers into our learning community.
We work closely with several partner organisations to provide opportunities for accessing the school-based element of ITE (Initial Teacher Education).
We welcome placements from both the SCITT (School-Centred Initial Teacher Training) and the PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate of Education) routes.
ITE providers we work with include:
-
Bradford College (through Bolton University)
If you would like to express an interest in training with us, please contact Miss Bowerman at j.bowerman@nhgs.co.uk (ITE Coordinator)
We take pride in sharing our own good practice and we value opportunities to reflect on new approaches and teaching methods which may be introduced to our classrooms by trainees.
At NHGS, trainees benefit from the expertise of a Professional Mentor and a carefully selected Subject Mentor, who will tailor the training programme around the specific needs of the trainee. There will also be opportunities for trainees to explore those areas of wider school life which may be of specific interest to them.
In addition, there is a quality assured ITE specific CPD programme that runs throughout the year, tailored to each phase of placement, to help support ITE’s with the various aspects of becoming a teacher.
Further information about routes into teaching can also be found at the government’s Get Into Teaching website, where those considering a career in teaching can also seek personalised advice from experts.
