We are aware that there has been an increase in people swimming in open water recently and have been made aware of some young people jumping in to the locks on the Calder and Hebble Navigation near Brighouse.
Clearly, the risks are significant – each year over 400 people drown in open water, with 40-50 of them being children. Given that a lot of students are not in school and the weather is forecast to be particularly warm, we would like to share this safety information with you to try and keep everyone safe around water.
